The Italian Sea Group delivers 78-metre diesel-electric mega yacht

Alan Bosworth

Italian shipbuilder The Italian Sea Group has delivered a new 78-metre mega yacht, named Admiral. The vessel's interior and exterior were designed by Sinot Yacht Architecture and Design.

The yacht is powered by a diesel-electric propulsion system that combines five variable-speed generators with two azimuthing pods rated at two megawatts, delivering a total power output of approximately five megawatts. This configuration provides a top speed of 17 knots.

The Admiral is equipped with a lithium polymer battery pack that enables "peak shaving" to prevent the need to start additional generators during power surges. It also allows the yacht to operate for several hours with zero local emissions. Each generator is equipped with advanced filtration systems, including selective catalytic reduction (SCR) and diesel particulate filter (DPF) technologies.

The 78-metre vessel has a three-deck layout. Onboard facilities include a six-metre swimming pool, a private spa, a fully equipped gym, a diving area, and a touch-and-go helipad.
