Marsh targets yacht sector with Triton Insurance buyout

Reuters

Marsh said Monday it has acquired Triton Insurance Agency, a Newport, Rhode Island-based marine and yacht broker.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Triton will become part of Marsh Agency.

Triton, founded in 2011, specialises in hull, yacht and marine coverage for high-net-worth individuals. Triton’s team will continue operating in Newport after the acquisition.

“With strong leadership, deep client relationships, and specialised marine expertise that complement our culture, Triton strengthens our presence in key coastal markets and helps us deliver more tailored solutions for high-net-worth clients,” Pete Walther, CEO of Marsh’s private client services division, said in a statement.

Bob Peck, Triton’s CEO, said the acquisition would enhance service to existing clients.

Marsh disclosed last month that it had closed eight acquisitions in the first nine months of 2026 for a total purchase consideration of $550 million.

Among the acquisitions were firms based in Japan, Germany, Texas and Spain. The figure marks an increase from the $337 million the group spent on acquisitions during the same period in 2025.
