Vinashin on April 26 delivered a floating storage and offloading unit, 'FSO-5' to the Petroleum Technical Services Corporation (PTSC).

Construction on the US$170 million unit, the largest of its kind ever built in Vietnam, commenced in May 2007 at Vietnam's Nam Trieu Ship Industry Corporation (Nasico).

According to the builder, the 'FSO-5' will be transported from Hai Phong Port to the Bach Ho oilfield in the Ba Ria Vung Tau Province.

The 'FSO-5' measures 258.14 metres in length, 46.4 metres at the beam and is 24 metres high. It has a total container capacity of 173,796 cubic metres and will primarily be used to serve offshore oil exploration projects. The 150,000-tonne unit was designed by the Monobuoy Company, England, and the Sinus Company, Poland. It is classed by ABS and the Vietnam Register (VR).
