VESSEL REVIEW | Anfield DP – Tsakos Energy Navigation welcomes DP2 shuttle tanker to fleet

Greek shipping firm Tsakos Energy Navigation (TEN) has taken delivery of Anfield DP, the third in a series of 12 DP2 Suezmax shuttle tankers ordered from South Korean shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries.

The ship is also the seventh overall DP shuttle tanker to be handed over to TEN. According to the owner, the delivery has advanced its expansion in the Brazilian offshore market, where it has maintained a presence since 2012 and has been transporting crude between production facilities offshore and receiving terminals.

Slated for long-term charter

Following the latest addition, TEN now operates seven shuttle tankers under long-term employment, with nine additional vessels currently on order and scheduled for delivery through 2028.

Anfield DP will commence a 10-year charter with an undisclosed US oil major. The charter also includes options that could extend employment up to 20 years.

Dimensions suitable for offshore waters

The newbuild has an LOA of 278.15 metres (912.57 feet), a moulded beam of 48.8 metres (160 feet), a summer draught of 16 metres (52 feet), a moulded depth of 24.1 metres (79.1 feet), a displacement of 183,163 tonnes, a deadweight of 155,454, and a gross tonnage of 86,653.

Accommodation is available for up to 30 crewmembers.

The ship’s tank capacities are 2,654 cubic metres (583,800 gallons) for fuel oil, 558 cubic metres (123,000 gallons) for freshwater, 54,676 cubic metres (12.03 million gallons) for ballast water, and 219 cubic metres (48,200 gallons) for lube oil.

Anfield DP sails under the Greek flag and is classed by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS). The ship is certified for unrestricted service under ABS guidelines.
