China's Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group (WSIG) handed over a new stainless steel chemical tanker to Shanghai SC-Stolt Shipping on Friday, March 28.

Shui Rong is the final ship in a series of 9,200DWT to be built by WSIG for Shanghai SC-Stolt Shipping

The newbuild has an LOA of 118 metres, a beam of 19.5 metres, a speed of 13 knots, and a propulsion system that complies with IMO Tier III NOx emissions requirements.

The tanker boasts lower fuel consumption, higher loading capacity, and larger cabin capacity compared to vessels of similar type. It also features an intelligent monitoring system, through which the various operating parameters can be monitored in real time by an operator at a shore control station.

WSIG had also earlier completed deliveries of a separate series of 7,200DWT stainless steel chemical tankers to Shanghai SC-Stolt Shipping.

The two companies will now collaborate on the development of a new series of 25,900DWT chemical tankers.
