Russian yard delivers river-sea capable chemical tanker to new owner

The Southern Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Centre of Russia's state-owned United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) has handed over a new chemical tanker to Eurasia-Shipping Caspian.

Designed by USC's Nevsky Design Bureau, Azimut-1 belongs to the Project 00216M series of tankers that capable of river-sea navigation.

The ship will be able to transport crude oil and petroleum products as well as hazardous liquid cargo that require heating to 60 degrees Celsius. Up to three different types of liquid cargo can be carried simultaneously on a single voyage.

Azimut-1 has an LOA of 141 metres, a beam of 16.7 metres, a depth of six metres, a maximum draught of 4.6 metres in the open sea, a maximum deadweight of 7,900, and accommodation for up to 13 crewmembers. The tanker can reach speeds of up to 10 knots and stay out at sea for a maximum of 15 days.

Azimut-1 is classed by the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping.
