Russia's Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex recently delivered a new Panamax oil tanker to local shipping company Rosnefteflot.
Valentin Pikul has a deadweight of 69,000 and a hull strengthened to Arc6 ice class requirements. It will be used primarily as a shuttle tanker transporting oil between Murmansk and Varandey via the Pechora Sea.
The tanker is designed for transfer of oil and is able to independently navigate without icebreaking support in Arctic waters with 1.1-metre thick ice during the winter-spring navigation season and up to 1.7-metre thick ice during the summer-autumn navigation season.
The newbuild has an LOA of 257 metres, a beam of 34 metres, a draught of 14 metres, and a speed of 15.5 knots. Construction was completed in compliance with Russian Maritime Register of Shipping rules.
Valentin Pikul has already been sanctioned by the United States along with five other tankers built by Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex. Rosnefteflot is the owner of three other ships besides Valentin Pikul while the remaining two will be handed over to Sovcomflot.
