Greek shipping company Enterpro Enterprises has taken delivery of a new medium-sized gas carrier delivered by China State Shipbuilding Corporation through its subsidiary Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding.
Olympios Gas was designed to be capable of transporting ammonia, VCM and other liquefied gases in addition to LPG, allowing her to serve a broader range of customers depending on market demand.
The newbuild has an LOA of 190 metres (620 feet), a moulded beam of 32.2 metres (106 feet), a design draught of 9.7 metres (32 feet), a moulded depth of 19 metres (62 feet), a deadweight of 34,600, a gross tonnage of 31,236, and three Type A, low-manganese steel cargo tanks with a total capacity of 48,000 cubic metres. The tanks help keep liquefied gas cargo at low temperatures.
The ship was built with an ice-reinforced hull. The design was developed to ensure intervals of up to 7.5 years between drydockings, thus allowing for the possibility of fewer maintenance downtimes.
The vessel also features an IMO Tier III-compliant propulsion system that can operate with reduced NOx emissions. The propulsion, which has a total installed power of 5,533 kW (7,420 hp), can also be configured in the future to permit operation on ammonia as a lower-emission alternative to conventional fuel oil.
Accommodation is available for 25 crewmembers.
Olympios Gas was built in compliance with Liberian flag and American Bureau of Shipping class requirements. Management and operation of the ship are the responsibility of Athens-based Benelux Overseas.
