The new floating liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal in Stade, Germany, will begin start-up operations in September, with a first commissioning cargo expected in November, its operator said on Thursday.
Stade will host Germany's fifth floating LNG import terminal as part of a wider push to diversify supplies after Russian pipeline deliveries were cut off in 2022.
The Energos Force floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) is expected in Stade in September as planned, commencing work to start up operations, a spokesperson for operator Deutsche Energy Terminal (DET) said.
"We expect the delivery of a first commissioning cargo in Stade in November," the DET spokesperson said.
The company is also preparing the allocation of capacities at the terminal and will inform the market of any auctions in due course, he added.
The Energos Force had been sub-chartered to Egyptian oil and gas company EGAS and deployed in Jordan amid delays to the German project.
Germany has been slow to fill gas storage this summer, with filling levels last seen at 53.6 per cent, and will rely on LNG imports to help meet gas demand this winter.
