Sweden's Sirius Shipping and Finnish state-owned energy company Gasum have placed an order for a new LNG and bio-LNG bunkering vessel to be built by Turkish shipyard RMK Marine.
The vessel, which will be named Celsius, will have a total LNG cargo capacity of 7,800 cubic metres and a battery hybrid propulsion system with peak shaving capability for both the main and auxiliary engines. Sirius Shipping said the propulsion will guarantee an EEDI 51 per cent below 2025 Phase III requirements.
The vessel will also be fitted with a gas combustion unit of 27.7 MW to facilitate cooling down and warming up services for the fuel tanks or cargo tanks of other vessels.
The completed bunkering vessel will have a length of 112.9 metres, a beam of 19 metres, a draught of six metres, an Ice Class 1A hull, and "take me home" redundancy. Design work on the vessel will be undertaken by Sirius Shipping in collaboration with Swedish naval architecture firm FKAB Marine.
Delivery is scheduled for 2027.
