Singapore’s Singfar Group taps Chinese builder for new LNG bunkering ships

Singapore-based shipping company the Singfar Group has selected China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) subsidiary Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding for the construction of new LNG bunkering vessels.

The contract, the total value of which has not been disclosed, includes two firm vessels plus options for another two vessels from the same series. Delivery of the two firm vessels is scheduled for August 2027.

The four vessels will each have a total cargo capacity of 20,000 cubic metres of LNG.

This is the fourth newbuilding contract to be awarded by Singfar to a Chinese shipbuilder since August 2023. The company expects to take delivery of four 50,000DWT MR product tankers from CSSC Chengxi Shipyard, two 115,000DWT Aframax tankers from New Times Shipbuilding, and a 6,700DWT bunkering vessel from Lianyungang Shenghua between 2025 and 2027.

The bunkering vessels to be built by Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding will be the first LNG bunkering vessels to join the Singfar fleet.
