Oman-based Asyad Shipping has taken delivery of Manah, the first of two IMO Type II medium range (MR) chemical tankers being built by Lianyungang Shipbuilding Yard in China.
A joint naming ceremony for Manah and its sister vessel, Marbat, was held on August 6, with both ships named after historic towns in Oman.
Following delivery, Manah will commence a three-year time charter, while Marbat is scheduled for delivery next month under a similar three-year charter agreement.
Chief Executive Officer Dr. Ibrahim Al-Nadhairi said the company was pleased to welcome the first of the two newbuildings into its product tanker fleet.
The shipbuilding contract for the two vessels was originally signed during the first quarter of 2025.
According to Asyad, employing both vessels on long-term time charters reflects its fleet renewal strategy and confidence in the product tanker market.
Each vessel has a deadweight tonnage of 49,100 and is fitted with 18 individually coated cargo tanks. The company said the tank arrangement allows multiple "clean petroleum" products, including methanol, to be transported simultaneously while remaining fully segregated during a voyage.
