Around fifty protesters from Danish activist group Den Gronne Ungdomsbevaegelse and controversial Swedish activist Greta Thunberg briefly occupied the offices of shipping company Maersk Tankers in Copenhagen on Tuesday, May 13.

The activists claimed the occupation was done to protest Maersk Tankers' ongoing transport of fossil fuels and parent company A.P. Moller – Maersk's alleged shipments of weapons to Israel.

Many of the protesters drew attention to themselves by chanting messages over loudhailers and displaying makeshift cloth signs as they occupied various areas within the office building. Others used rags and spray bottles to clean the interior glass partitions to mock the company's supposed PR "greenwashing."

Local police later arrived in the area and successfully convinced the protesters to leave the premises voluntarily.

This is the second time since February that protesters have attempted to disrupt operations at a Maersk office.

The earlier protest at Maersk's Copenhagen headquarters in February, wherein the activists attempted to block access to the office, had reportedly been done over alleged weapons shipments to Israel.

Thunberg, who also took part in the February protest, was arrested along with 19 others.
