On the final day of 2012, STX Europe completed the sale of all of the shares in its wholly owned subsidiaries STX Norway Florø AS and STX Norway Design Florø AS to the Westcon Group.
The order backlog of STX Norway Florø AS was NOK59 million (USD10.5 million) at the end of Q3 2012 and the order book consisted mainly of one offshore pipelay vessel, the 'Deep Energy'. According to a company statement, the further details of the transaction are confidential.
STX Europe's Florø yard performs ship repair and conversion activities for a range of clients, including: Farstad Shipping, Bourbon Offshore, Island Offshore, Havila Shipping, DOF, Remøy Shipping, Hurtigruten, Fjord1 and Olympic Shipping.
The facility is also capable of performing classification, maintenance and repair work on oil rigs, in addition to ship repair. Target areas also include subsea and rig, as well as building subsea and offshore steel constructions.
STX Norway Design Florø is a subsidiary situated at the Florø Yard. STX Norway Design Florø is a naval architecture and marine engineering company that supplies complete designs, construction and drawing packages for new builds and conversions.
