A new shipbuilding base that could dock vessels over 10,000DWT is currently under construction at Suixi County, Zhanjiang in Guangdong Province. The shipbuilding base is located at seashore of Jialong Windproof Port, Suixi County, which is under the jurisdiction of Zhanjiang (port) City in South China.
The project's leading investor is Zhanjiang Huanan Vessel Trading Service Co., whose upfront investment reached RMB 52.8 (US$8.2) million. The total investment is expected to exceed RMB 200 (US$32.2) million.
At this point, a 200 meter-long fishing port and an all-weather lift line have been completed and are expected to be put into operation in September. A 200-metre lone deep-water port that can berth ships over 10,000DWT and a matching dock are scheduled to be finished in September, 2017.
Upon completion, this shipbuilding base will provide services to all the vessels going in and out of Zhanjiang Port, as well as ferries sailing in Qiongzhou Strait – that connects Hainan Island with Guangdong Province.
