Russian port operator Rosmorport has relaunched operations at two reconstructed berths at the Port of Tuapse on Russia's Black Sea coast.
The reconstruction of the Port of Tuapse's berths nine and ten included reinforcing the existing structures, deepening of the surrounding waters, and expansion of the berths' respective turning basins.
The berth reconstruction was a public-private undertaking that constituted the first phase of a seaport development program initiated by the Russian Government.
The reconstruction was done mainly to prevent deformation of the existing berths and to resolve structural defects that had adversely affected operations at the port.
Following the reconstruction of the berths, dredging will be undertaken as part of the second phase of the project.
The dredging works, which will be carried out towards the end of 2025, will enable the two berths to accommodate ships with draughts of 13.3 metres. The berths are currently limited to accommodating ships with draughts of only 11 metres.
