The Port of Corpus Christi in Texas moved a record 102.4 million tons of commodities in the first half of 2025, surpassing the previous record of 99.5 million tons set in the first half of 2024.
The port also set a new record for its second quarter, handling 51.1 million tons, from 50.6 million tons in the same period last year.
For the first half of the year, crude oil shipments totaled 65.2 million tons, an increase of more than 3.8 per cent over the same period last year.
Liquefied natural gas (LNG) volumes grew by nearly 10.8 per cent to 8.5 million tons. The port also noted increases in dry bulk and other bulk liquids.
Kent Britton, the port's Chief Executive Officer, attributed the growth to the Corpus Christi ship channel improvement project. He added that the port remains committed to providing the infrastructure needed for continued growth.
The recently completed improvement project deepened the main channel from 47 feet to 54 feet and widened it to 530 feet in most places.
