The Greater Lafourche Port Commission (GLPC) has approved the acquisition of a 743-acre tract of land from the State of Louisiana. The commission said the acquisition paves the way for the expansion of Argent LNG’s planned liquefied natural gas (LNG) export development in Port Fourchon.
The deal adds the new acreage to Argent LNG's project, bringing its total footprint to approximately 900 acres. GLPC stated the expanded site provides the scale and flexibility to optimize facility design, enhance logistics, and support future phases of growth.
The Argent LNG project is engineered to deliver up to 25 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of what it describes as "lower-carbon LNG", using a modular execution model. Development will continue with permitting and engineering work ahead of a formal project launch in Milan, GLPC said.
Jonathan Bass, CEO of Argent LNG, stated that Port Fourchon offers deepwater access and that the additional acreage allows the company to fully realise its vision for the facility.
