Eastern China's Ningbo-Zhoushan Port has been ranked as the most competitive port in 2008, according to a survey conducted by Shipping China and the China Port and Shipping Institute.
A report by Chinese state news agency Xinhua said that Shanghai ranked second while Qingdao was placed third, followed by Tianjin, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dalian and Lianyungang.
Ningbo-Zhoushan Port topped the list after it launched its first 300,000-tonne artificial deepwater sailing channel. The port also began new cooperation agreements with its hinterland city customs offices to facilitate cargo clearance.
