The Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Abubakar Dantsoho assured stakeholders on a visit to the Lekki Deep Seaport that the NPA would provide the necessary support to enable the port to unleash the benefits of economies of scale in support of the national economy.

"This management intends to more frontally position the national economy to reap the multi-dimensional benefits of economies of scale that Lekki Port with its capacity to berth super post-Panamax sized vessels possesses," said Dantsoho.

"The quality of infrastructure and equipment, Lekki Port signposts the direction we are looking at especially as we aggressively pursue the implementation of our port modernisation programme.

"Going by the steady increase in trans-shipment numbers from Lekki, we are already set to meet the maritime needs of our landlocked neighboring countries".

"The fully automated status of Lekki is very much in tandem with our drive to fully automate all our ports...Lekki Deep Seaport’s distinctive features which positions it for quick cargo and vessel turn around will greatly enhance the competitiveness of our exports especially agro-allied products in the international marketplace, especially as the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) gains momentum."
