Polar Ship Operations: A Practical Guide

Marjorie Gerlinger
Author: Captain Duke Snider FNI
Publisher: The Nautical Institute

From Baird Maritime

Another excellent and very practical little how-to guide from the ever prolific and very high quality Nautical Institute.

Impressively well illustrated and clearly and very concisely written this is more than simply a beginner's guide to safe navigation in ice. It is just as important as a book of checklists and advice for the experienced polar mariner.

With the gradual shrinking of the northern polar ice cap, at least, interest in polar navigation is increasing. The very real possibility of using the NW and NE passages for a few months each year is increasing interest in the possibilities.

With considerable emphasis on emergency and environmental responses, this book presents a distillation of great experience together with considerable thought as to the future possibilities.
