Germany-based Nordic Yards has welcomed a government announcement supporting the shipbuilding group as the buyer of the Volkswerft shipyard in Stralsund.
According to Nordic Yards, a total of 250 jobs will be created at the Volkwerft facility by the end of 2014, with a planned increase to 500 by the end of 2017.
Particular focus will be placed on offshore projects, specialized offshore vessels, as well as energy transition and conversion – such as from fuel oil to LNG.
