China's New Century Shipbuilding has reported a revenue of US$1.68 billion in the first seven months of the year. The net profit figure stood at US$256 million.
From January to July, the shipyard delivered thirteen 73,000DWT oil tankers and eight 114,000DWT tankers. The company has a healthy backlog of 92 vessels totalling 11.88 million DWT.
The company said that it would focus on retaining its existing orderbooks and making sure that vessels were delivered on time.
In other news, New Century has recently branched out into the ship owning business. The company has established a shipping company in Cyprus and operates three tankers. It is said that this generates as much as US$580,000 per ship each month.
