Marco Polo commissions third dry dock

Baird Maritime

Marco Polo Marine subsidiary PT Marcopolo Shipyard has completed and commissioned its third dry dock at its shipyard in Batam, Indonesia.

Dry Dock 3 measures 190 metres long, 45 metres and 9 metres wide, and is capable of docking merchant vessels of up to 45,000DWT. Its operations complement that of the yard's other two existing dry docks, which have been in operation since 2009. All the three dry docks are facilitated with tower and crawler cranes of varying lifting capabilities.

With the commissioning of Dry Dock 3, Marco Polo hopes to take advantage of the buoyant demand for ship repair and conversion business, boosted by thriving commodity shipping, oil and gas activities in the region.
