CLdN's new hybrid ro-ro vessel Leonine has embarked on its maiden voyage from the Far East to Europe. The vessel is the second of the company's new hybrid ships.

Following its delivery from HD Hyundai Mipo shipyard in South Korea, the Leonine completed a short drydock at Changhong International Shipyard in Zhoushan, China. The work involved applying a low-friction silicone hull coating and installing thruster grids designed to reduce hull resistance. The vessel is expected to arrive in Europe at the end of the summer.

Its sister ship, the Chaumine, was previously delivered in March of this year. CLdN's new Ro-Ro vessels measure 234 metres in length, have a cruising speed of 16 knots, and a capacity of 8,000 lane metres. Both vessels are equipped with an IMO Tier III-compliant hybrid propulsion system consisting of 11MW main engines and 6MW shaft generators.

They will be operated on CLdN's Northwest Europe routes in response to growing demand between the continent and the UK, particularly Scotland and North East England.
