UAE shipping company Noatum Maritime, part of the AD Ports Group's maritime and shipping cluster, has confirmed the maiden operational voyage of its newest LNG-fuelled pure car and truck carrier (PCTC).

UGR Al Samha will be utilised by Noatum Maritime's recently formed joint venture with Erkport, United Global Ro-Ro (UGR). The newbuild boasts 12 decks covering a total area of 59,331 square metres and with a total capacity of more than 7,000 CEUs.

The AD Ports Group said the PCTC has been meticulously designed to optimise high and heavy cargo transportation serving vital markets across the Middle East, Asia, and the Mediterranean.

Following its maiden call at Abu Dhabi's Khalifa Port, UGR Al Samha will be deployed on regular routes connecting key automotive and industrial hubs.

The AD Ports Group said the vessel is part of Noatum Maritime's broader strategy to expand Ro-Ro services while transitioning towards alternative fuels.

Noatum Maritime said that the use of LNG aligns with the UAE Government's long-term decarbonisation targets and plans to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.
