MOL signs long-term iron ore transport contract

On October 19, Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL), Japan, signed a long-term iron ore transport contract with the Jiangsu Shagang Group of China.

MOL will transport iron ore from Australia and Brazil to Jiangsu Shagang.

A 207,000-tonne iron ore carrier, to be constructed at the Universal Shipbuilding Corporation for the contract, is scheduled for completion in late 2011.The vessel will have a length of 300 metres, a beam of 50 metres and a draught of 18.2 metres.
