MOL launches coal carrier

Valentine Watkins

Mitsui OSK Lines has announced the completion of the coal carrier 'Energy Prometheus', at the Oshima Shipyard.

Upon final delivery and commissioning, MOL will operate the vessel, which will supply coal to Hokuriku Electric Power Company.

The 85,555DWT 'Energy Prometheus' measures 228.4 metres in length overall, with a breadth of 36.5 metres and a depth of 19.9 metres. With its wider beam and reduced depth, this vessel can serve shallower ports without compromising cargo loading.

The vessel's name, 'Energy Prometheus', is derived from the previous MOL-operated coal carrier that supplied coal to Hokuriku Electric.
