China's Hubei Port Group (HPG), via its Hubei Yangtze River Shipbuilding Supply Chain business unit, has secured contracts totalling CNY24 million (US$3.3 million) for the construction of four new vessels.
The vessels to be built include two LNG-powered multi-purpose cargo ships that can navigate in inland waters, a large rescue vessel, and an environmental research vessel.
The cargo ships will each have a length of 130 metres, a beam of 16.26 metres, a depth of 7.2 metres, and a gross tonnage of approximately 6,180. Delivery of the first vessel is scheduled for April 2026.
The rescue vessel will have an LOA of 78 metres, a beam of 15 metres, and a depth of 3.4 metres. HPG expects that the vessel will be delivered before the end of this year.
The research vessel will have an LOA of 28.8 metres, a beam of 5.6 metres, and a depth of 1.9 metres. Its construction is estimated to last 12 months.
