Heavy lift vessel grounds off Ireland

Alex Baird

German owner Harren and Partner has reported that their heavy lift vessel 'Pantanal' went aground yesterday within Cashla Bay on the west coast of Ireland.

According to the company, the vessel drifted from her anchor in heavy winds at around 0500 hours. The vessel was destined for Rossa Veel to load cargo for West Africa.

The vessel and her crew are reportedly safe, and no visible or obvious damage has been reported. Harren and Partner are working with the underwriters and an emergency response team to refloat the vessel with tug assistance.
