Ha Long Shipbuilding, located in Vietnam's northeastern province of Quang Ninh, yesterday launched the 'Victory Leader'.
The PCTC is expected to be delivered to Ray Car Carrier, Israel, in December this year. The 'Victory Leader' has a capacity of 4,900 vehicles. The vessel has a deck area of 41,000 square metres. The contracts for the vessels built in Vietnam were signed in 2006.
Ray Car Carrier also has several vessels on order at Korean builder Hyundai Mipo Dockyard. These 6,700-unit PCTCs will have a total deck area of 55,000 square metres. These vessels were ordered in 2007.
Ha Long Shipbuilding is an affiliate of Vietnamese state-owned shipbuilder Vinashin.
