Grounding of ‘Full City’ off Norwegian coast

Baird Maritime

The owners of the 26,800DWT bulk carrier 'Full City', which ran aground at Langesund off the southern coast of Norway in heavy weather on July 31, said that everything possible is being done to contain and limit any potential environmental damage in the wake of the casualty.

Investigations are continuing into the cause of the grounding, but the priority presently is to address the environmental consequences.

The ship was in ballast but has on board approximately 1,200 tonnes of bunker fuel, some of which leaked into the sea as a result of the grounding.

The 'Full City' was built in 1995 in Japan. It is owned by Roc Maritime, Panama.
