COSCO Shipping welcomes 77,000DWT pulp carrier into service

China's COSCO Shipping has taken delivery of a new pulp carrier built by affiliate company COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry.

Green Brazil belongs to a series that also includes Green Munguba, Green Pecem, Green Suape, and Green Qingdao. All ships are classed by China Classification Society and registered to Liberia.

Germany's Carsten Rehder orders additional multi-purpose cargo ships from Indian yard

Contract signing between Carsten Rehder Schiffsmakler and Reederei and Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers

German shipping company Carsten Rehder Schiffsmakler and Reederei has awarded India's Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) a contract for the construction of two 7,500DWT multi-purpose cargo vessels.

The vessels will be the seventh and eighth in a series that GRSE will build for the same owner. The eight ships have a total acquisition cost of approximately US$108 million.

Each vessel will be 120 metres long and 17 metres wide with a maximum draught of 6.75 metres and a capacity of 7,500 tonnes of cargo. The hold can accommodate bulk, general and project cargo while containers will be carried on the hatch covers.

GRSE said the ships have been specifically designed to carry multiple large wind turbine blades on their decks.

UAE's Noatum Maritime takes delivery of new car carrier

UAE shipping company Noatum Maritime, part of the AD Ports Group's Maritime and Shipping Cluster, has taken delivery of its first LNG-powered pure car and truck carrier (PCTC), which will be utilised by the recently formed joint venture with Erkport, United Global Ro-Ro (UGR).

UGR Al Samha boasts 12 decks covering a total area of 59,331 square metres and with a total capacity of more than 7,000 CEUs.

Anhui Port and Shipping Group's newest car carrier floated out

Launch of AICC Kunpeng

A new pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) ordered by Chinese shipowner the Anhui Port and Shipping Group has been launched at the facilities of Wuhu Shipyard.

AICC Kunpeng is a sister ship of AICC Huanghu, which was delivered earlier this year. Like its earlier sister, it will be operated by Anhui Hangrui International Ro-Ro Transportation Company, a joint venture formed by the Anhui Port and Shipping Group and car manufacturers Chery Automobile and the JAC Automobile Group.

Volga Shipping Company's newest dry cargo vessel sails on maiden voyage

A new dry cargo vessel ordered by Russia's Volga Shipping Company has sailed out of the Port of Azov on its maiden operational voyage.

Konstruktor Egorov is the first ship to be built under the Project RSD71 series of dry cargo vessels designed by local naval architecture firm Marine Engineering Bureau (MEB). It is capable of navigating both inland and offshore waters.

Japanese yard secures Ro-Ro newbuilding orders from local shipowners

Mitsubishi Shipbuilding has received additional orders for three methanol-fueled Ro-Ro cargo ships from Japanese shipping companies Toyofuji Shipping, Miyazaki Sangyo Kaiun, and Nichitoku Kisen.

The three ships will be built at the Enoura Plant of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries' (MHI) Shimonoseki Shipyard and Machinery Works in Yamaguchi Prefecture. Deliveries are scheduled to commence in fiscal year 2028.
