Greek dry bulk shipowner Diana Shipping has announced the extension of its time charter contract with Geneva-based Cargill International for the Panamax dry bulk vessel Leto.
The new charter period is scheduled to commence on September 10, 2026, running until at least September 1, 2027, with an option to extend up to October 31, 2027.
Under the agreement, the gross charter rate is $18,000 per day minus a 4.75 per cent third-party commission, representing an increase from the vessel's current gross charter rate of $12,750 per day.
Diana Shipping projects that the employment extension will generate approximately $6.34 million in gross revenue for the minimum scheduled charter duration.
Built in 2010, the Leto has a deadweight tonnage of 81,297.
The company currently operates 36 dry bulk vessels, comprising four Newcastlemax, eight Capesize, four post-Panamax, six Kamsarmax, five Panamax and nine Ultramax ships.
Excluding two newbuild vessels that are yet to be delivered, the fleet has a combined carrying capacity of approximately 4.1 million DWT.
