56,000DWT bulker for Lakshmi Navigation

Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding (MES), Japan, has recently completed and delivered a 56,000DWT type bulk carrier.

MES Hull No. 1754, the 'Darya Lakshmi' was completed at its Tamano Works and delivered to the vessel owner, Lakshmi Navigation, Hong Kong. The vessel is managed by Chellaram Shipping (Hong Kong).

This Handymax bulk carrier has a huge cargo hold capacity over 70,000 cubic metres and marks the 89th ship of its series.

This 56,000DWT-type bulk carrier series of MES is widely called the "Mitsui 56" and is highly appreciated in the market. Over 150 units of this series have been ordered worldwide.

The vessel has a length of 189.9 metres, a moulded beam of 32.26 metres, a moulded depth of 17.9 metres and a moulded draught of 12.55 metres. The vessel achieves a maximum speed of 14.5 knots via a 9,480kW Mitsui-Man B&W 6D50MC-C engine. Classed by Lloyd's Register, the 'Darya Lakshmi' is flagged in Hong Kong.
