Croatia's largest shipyard, Brodosplit, has been privatised. According to the Croatian Times, the government signed a contract with Croatian company DIV for "only one Croatian kuna (USD0.17) but accepted its debts and obligations".
According to the newspaper, the shipyard's privatising in the Adriatic port of Split was one of the conditions for Croatia joining the European Union.
"The restructuring of the shipbuilding industry comes to an end with the signing of this agreement," Croatian Economy Minister Ivan Vrdoljak said.
