ZIM Integrated Shipping Services has taken delivery of a new container vessel built by the Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group of China.
ZIM Aquamarine is jointly owned by ZIM and Canadian shipping company Seaspan. It is the final vessel in a series of 15 containerships built by the Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group.
The newbuild has an LOA of 272 metres, a beam of 42.8 metres, a depth of 24.6 metres, a draught of 15 metres, and a rated capacity of 7,000 TEUs, though it boasts a nominal capacity of 8,242 containers.
The main engine and the generator are dual-fuel capable and can also operate on LNG. A selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system meanwhile enables the ship to comply with IMO Tier III NOx emission standards.
The ship's LNG fuel is stored in type B tanks as part of a high-pressure fuel gas supply system (FGSS).
Construction and delivery of ZIM Aquamarine were completed within 12 months.
