Japanese container liner company Ocean Network Express (ONE) has formally named ONE Sparkle, its first owned and operated newbuilding container vessel.
The ship is fitted with advanced environment-friendly features such as methanol and ammonia-ready fuel capability, enabling future conversion to these alternative fuels; an advanced hull design optimised for improved energy efficiency; smart technology integration for optimal vessel performance; shore power charging capability; and various types of energy-saving devices.
ONE Sparkle is in the final stages of construction at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries in Ulsan, South Korea. The 13,800TEU vessel is classed by the American Bureau of Shipping and will sail under the flag of Singapore.
The ship will be managed by OneSea Solutions, a ship management company jointly owned by ONE and Seaspan Corporation.
ONE Sparkle belongs to a series of 20 large ammonia/methanol ready vessels that will be built in Korea and Japan and are scheduled for delivery in 2025 and 2026.
