Japanese container liner company Ocean Network Express (ONE) has released its financial results for FY2024 (from April 2024 to March 2025).

The company's revenue for FY2024 was US$19.233 billion, up 32 per cent from the last year, with net profit of US$4.244 billion (year-on-year increase of US$3.27 billion).

Gross operating profit also saw a significant increase in FY2024, with a final figure of US$5.966 billion indicating a 192 per cent jump from US$2.044 billion from FY2023.

"We are pleased to report a profit of [US$4.244 billion] for FY2024—an achievement realised despite ongoing geopolitical tensions and regional economic uncertainties," said Jeremy Nixon, CEO of ONE.

"Through our participation in the newly established The Premier Alliance, launched in February, along with various other service partnerships, we have further expanded our global network and enhanced our service offerings to better meet customers’ evolving needs."

ONE said that, considering the prevailing geopolitical landscape and the significant economic instability introduced by recent tariff developments in April, forecasting a precise full-year profit figure for FY2025 presents considerable challenges.

In this context, the company's baseline FY2025 full-year profit after tax forecast stands at approximately US$1.1 billion, predicated on an assumption of a relatively stable business environment throughout the fiscal year.

However, recognising the heightened uncertainty, ONE has also conducted comprehensive sensitivity analyses. These analyses consider potential headwinds such as weakened cargo volumes in specific trade lanes and reductions in freight rates across global markets.

The outcomes of these scenarios indicate a potential profit after tax in the range of approximately US$250 million.
