COSCO Shipping Africa signs logistics services agreement with Smart Globe

Alan Bosworth

Hong Kong-based printing company Smart Globe Holdings has completed the construction of part of a warehouse at its new logistics centre in Zambia and has signed a services agreement with COSCO Shipping Africa to formalise a strategic cooperation.

The logistics centre is located on land in Zambia acquired by the company's subsidiary, Tera Logistics, on January 3, 2025. It is being developed with warehouse facilities and is situated next to the border between Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The services agreement, signed on July 21 between another Smart Globe subsidiary Tera Fleet and COSCO Shipping Africa, will commence on August 1, 2025. Under the deal, Tera Fleet will provide warehousing, storage, stock management, and container-related operations for COSCO.

Smart Globe stated that the strategic cooperation represents a milestone for the group to broaden its sources of income and establish a local presence in Sub-Saharan Africa, in which it has entered into the logistics business.

The company noted that the centre's location facilitates faster customs clearance and reduces transportation costs for goods moving between countries like Zimbabwe, Zambia, and the DRC.
