Yantar is set to host a ceremony for the new special purpose ship designed for the Russian Navy, which will take place on July 8.
General Director of CMKB, Almaz Alexander Shlyahtenko, did not specify the project of the ship and its characteristics, having commented only that it ''will be a modern ship of special purpose for the Navy''.
A piece of information first assumed after IMDS-2005, which predicted further development of the project 20380 corvette due to its technical faults has also been confirmed by Mr Shlyahtenko.
The General Director of the design bureau mentioned 'a new update of the corvette', which is ''the ship of the future, the ship of the 21st century''.
He pointed out that this is a ''development of the corvette under construction at Northern Shipyard, but our new frigate is an absolutely new development in many respects''.
At the moment there is no more information available on this project.
