India's Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Apollo Micro Systems (AMS) to establish a strategic collaboration for the joint development and supply of advanced weapons and electronic systems.
The companies said the collaboration would focus on the joint research and development (R&D), co-production, and supply of various categories of underwater weapons and vehicles, underwater mines, underwater communication systems and air defence systems.
The project was launched to address the current and future requirements of India's defence forces, paramilitary forces, police organisations and central and state government agencies, as well as private and export markets.
"This collaboration will leverage the core strengths of both organisations on leveraging and enhancing manufacturing infrastructure for components and sub-assemblies of these systems," said the companies in a statement.
"The MoU also encompasses modernisation and upgradation of existing systems to align with evolving operational requirements."
