From Baird Maritime:
This book was not written by a "bleeding heart" pacifist. The author is a West Point graduate and Vietnam war veteran who became a senior academic and writer. He has seen the good and the bad, near at hand and personally.
He also has the intellectual wherewithal to be able to very effectively yet passionately analyse and criticise the recent epidemic of American militarism. It is a hard hitting, indeed devastating book but a vitally important one that deserves much wider readership than it is likely to enjoy.
While he has plenty of material to work with, especially during the decade to the end of 2005, there is, to this reviewer at least, a feeling that there is a wind of change starting to waft through the United States. Perhaps by putting his finger on the New American Militarism, the author has helped to make enough people think as to inspire a change of direction.
