The three Sigma-class frigates are equipped to conduct the traditional naval tasks as well as maritime security operations. The vessels are also suited to support humanitarian aid operations.

The vessel is capable of speeds up to 27,5 knots, with a range of 4,000 nautical miles at 18 knots. Accommodation is provided for 110 personnel.
