United Kingdom-based naval architects Camarc Design, which specialises in high speed work boat designs such as pilot, patrol, fire and search and rescue vessels, has had a range of new designs recently hit the water.
Recent Camarc pilot boat designs include a 20-metre aluminium waterjet-powered vessel for Savannah Pilots in the USA, as well as a 22-metre Ice-class steel propeller pilot boat for Rosmorport in Russia.
Holyhead Marine in the UK, meanwhile, continues to build 16-metre composite FRP Camarc pilot boats for Harwich Haven, and Sydney Ports in Australia. Camarc said that alternative versions and layouts for this design are also being developed.
In the patrol boat market, a 33-metre Carmac-designed patrol vessel was recently delivered in conjunction with Raidco Marine of France. Elsewhere, Tehnomont of Croatia is currently building a 25-metre Camarc patrol boat for the Royal Gibraltar Police, and Seattle, USA-based boat builder Kvichak Marine continues its productive collaboration with Camarc, building patrol vessels for the United States Coastguard, the New York Police Department, the Seattle Police and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's department.
Other Camarc vessel types currently under construction include a second 15-metre self-righting dive support/search and rescue craft for operations in the North Sea.
Camarc has also developed several fire boat designs of late, including fast rapid response vessels specially designed to be the first responder to an emergency. The 15-metre design features twin water jet propulsion, which achieves speeds of up to 40 knots and offers excellent manoeuvrability during fire fighting operations.
Lastly, Camarc has also put together several crew boat designs, up to 42 metres in length, following the launch of a 21-metre aluminium crew boat in the Middle East.
