Germany's ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) is set to invest €250 million (US$275 million) in its Kiel shipyard to further develop its capability to build new conventional submarines.
The defence firm expects that additional infrastructure including a new shipbuilding hall for large-scale section production, a second outfitting line, a new stage system, a modernised service hall, and a shiplift will be incorporated in Kiel.
The expansion of TKMS' submarine construction facilities is expected to be completed by 2023.
