The submarine has a length of 62 metres, a hull diameter of 6.2 metres, a maximum submerged displacement of 1,600 tonnes, and space for 30 crewmembers. It can reach a maximum diving depth of 500 metres, a maximum speed of approximately 22 knots, and a range of 700 kilometres at a submerged cruising speed of four knots.
