Two women were killed after they jumped overboard from a charter boat just off Grenada's Grand Anse Beach on Saturday, August 8.
Witnesses said the two women jumped together off the party boat Kayak Princess and accidentally came into contact with the vessel's propeller.
Local news outlet GBN said one of the victims died at the scene while the other was rushed to hospital in the capital St George's but eventually succumbed to her injuries.
The Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) has launched an investigation into the incident and has detained the boat's captain, though there is no confirmation yet as to whether any formal charges will be filed.
The tragedy occurred amid festivities that were then ongoing at Grand Anse Beach as part of Grenada's annual Spicemas carnival celebrations.
The RGPF could not yet confirm the circumstances surrounding the incident. However, the agency assured that information will be provided with the continuation of the investigation.
