Five people are confirmed dead after a small recreational vessel capsized in Yunnan Province in southwestern China on Wednesday, August 12.
Local news agency Xinhua said the accident occurred on the Nanpan River in Yunnan's Huaning County at around 18:00 local time on Wednesday.
The boat had six people on board at the time. All of them reportedly fell into the water when the boat capsized.
The accident's sole survivor was recovered from the river during a search and rescue effort that eventually expanded to involve more than 470 personnel including police and firefighters.
The bodies of the first two deceased victims were not recovered until later in the week, as confirmed by local officials at 08:00 on Saturday, August 15.
The search effort conducted in the wake of the accident concluded earlier this week after the remains of the last three missing victims were finally recovered and identified.
Xinhua said that follow-up work is proceeding in relation to the tragedy.
