The Royal Malaysian Police (RMP) has ordered a series of five new patrol craft from Perlis Marine, Malaysia.
The new 25-metre boats were designed by UK-based Camarc Design using their double chine hull form. Tank testing of the hull was carried out by the Wolfson Unit from Southampton University and confirmed the hull design's ability to meet the RMP's range and speed requirements.
The new vessels will each have a length of 25 metres, a beam of 6.1 metres and a draught of 1.5 metres. The new craft feature a twin installation of Caterpillar C32 engines rated 1,340kW, driving fixed pitch Stone Marine propellers for a top speed of 35 knots. With a fuel capacity of 11,000 litres, the design has a range of over 500 nautical miles at 28 knots.
Arranged for a crew of ten, the aluminium alloy structure is to Lloyds Register approvals for SSC Class G3.
